What was your motivation?
My weight loss motivation was out of the norm. I am a Christian, and I spent a good part of my life doing ministry. I decided to lose weight when I realized that my health and current habits could be what hinder me from reaching God’s purpose for my life.
God started to show me that I could not properly fulfill my ministry assignment due to my size because even little things such as leading intercession became difficult since I was always running out of breath. So I decided to lose weight to become effective in the work of ministry.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by simply practicing moderation. I limited my sweets and liquid calories, only consuming those things occasionally.
I started eating healthier snacks and drank one gallon of water every day. I intentionally began to listen to my body to ensure I was not simply eating out of boredom but eating to fuel my body.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I worked out for an hour to an hour and a half. I spent about 65% of my time doing cardio, and the other time was spent doing strength training.
How often did you work out?
I worked out five days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight is 305 pounds, and my current weight is 205 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’5″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I did not have weightless surgery. I lost weight naturally.
When did you start your journey?
I started my journey on November 8, 2021, so it took about 7.5 months to lose 100 pounds.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I will give is to remember that this is a lifestyle. Build sustainable healthy habits. Be consistent with your healthy habits even when you are not seeing results immediately. The weight will come off if you continue to focus on your input and output. One bad day won’t ruin your hardwork so give yourself grace when you do fall short. Continue to work towards healthy habits and make sure what you are doing now is sustainable for a lifetime.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice for women who want to lose weight is to not focus on weightloss but to remember your why. There will be days when you lack motivation but your why will be what drives you to show up for yourself. This journey is not always a walk in the park but it is very much possible.
