This is my postpartum weigh loss story! Having a baby is one of the most beautiful and life changing experiences that a woman could ever have. This experience also is known to cause some pretty significant changes to a woman’s body. In some cases, like mine, pregnancy can leave you feeling like you may never look or feel the same way you did before giving birth. Weight loss is one of the biggest struggles I had. After months of dedication, sweat and lots of tears, I have finally reached my fitness goal. Better yet, I’ve passed it and am still pushing myself to new limits everyday. I am so excited to share my story, which documents my weight loss journey and my struggles, with you guys as it has been a huge part of my life since having my son.
What was your motivation? What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
After giving birth I didn’t feel like myself. I often felt depressed and as if I did not belong in the body I now had. I appreciated everything that this change in my life brought me. However, I deep down inside I knew that in order to the best parent for my son I had to start loving myself again. I pushed myself to not just to look the like the person I wanted to be but also to feel that way.
How did you change your eating habits?
When it came to my eating habits, I decided not to go on any major diets since I was still breastfeeding. Instead, I cut processed foods completely out of my diet. I limited my carb intake and increased the amount of protein I would consume on a regular basis.
What did your workout routine look like?
I worked out 4-5 days a week. I started with low-intensity cardio until I started to see a bit of the weight shedding away. I was able to weight train once my body had completely healed from my caesarean, focusing on the key body parts I wanted to tone.
Starting weight/Current weight
186 pounds was my starting weight. I currently weight 130 pounds. I’m 5 feet tall.
When did you start your journey?
Winter of 2016. It took me 4 months to achieve my goal, but I’m still pushing myself to reach a new aim.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Do things at your own pace and never forget to love yourself.
