Transformation of the Day: Chelsea lost 67 pounds by counting macros, exercising, and learning to love herself again. Both of her parents passed away during her senior year of college. She gained a significant amount of weight due to depression and anxiety. It’s been a long journey, but she feels blessed and thankful today.
In 2014, my life changed. I lost both of my parents during my senior year of college, and their deaths were a week apart. I graduated from college in 2015 with a fitness/wellness degree. It wasn’t until I graduated college that I started to become very depressed.
I was in a dark place in my life. I’ve also struggled with anxiety for years. I didn’t care about much. I treated my body horribly and gained 40 plus pounds in a year.
I moved back home, and little by little, I got my life back on track. It’s been a long journey, but I’m blessed and thankful for the space I’m in today. Fitness played a big part in my mental health during that time.
Before I started this journey, I literally hated looking at myself. I struggled, I sacrificed, I failed, and I tried again and again. Not only did I lose weight, but I fell in love with me again.
Let’s fast forward a few years… I’m 27 years old, and I’m in a better place in all aspects of my life. I’m happier. I’ve learned to love every flaw and all the insecurities I have. Finding myself and genuinely loving myself was the best decision I’ve ever made. I still have my days when I fall off, and that’s okay. I’m far from perfect!
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I weighed 272 pounds, and that was my heaviest. I currently weigh 205 pounds. I’m 5’11”.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
My journey began in 2017. My transformation took a little over a year. I got to under 200 pounds but didn’t like being that small, so I gained a little weight back. I’m comfortable between 205-210 pounds.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits by counting my macros! It was the best way for me.
What was your exercise routine?
I’ve always been an athlete, so I worked out 5-6 days a week. My workouts consisted of cardio and strength training! Also, I picked up swimming workouts.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
No matter what you go, through never give up! Some days may be challenging, and some days you may fail, but being resilient is what it’s all about. Never give up on your goals and grind until you reach them.
What advice would you like to share?
Just start, and take it one day at a time! Your fitness journey is yours, and that’s what makes it so special!
I gained confidence. I grew in all aspects of my life. Now, I feel like I have a story to be told. A year ago, I was afraid to tell my story, but I’ve realized how many people I have helped by just telling my story.
This is my passion. I love motivating people and helping them reach their goals! I thank God every day for the position he has put me in. This is my purpose, so I’m going to attack it every day! It’s way more than just fitness for me.
