Transformation of the Day: Chelsea lost 114 pounds. When she hit 30 years old, she found the motivation to change her lifestyle. Our UK sista used the popular Cambridge plan, Keto, and lots of exercise to get results.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I hit 30 years of age and realized how unhappy I was with myself and my life. Something ignited inside me, and all of a sudden, I was motivated to walk away from the life I was unhappy with. I decided to start again with an upgraded version of me that liked what she saw in the mirror.
I made some drastic changes. Every time I wanted to give up, I just reminded myself that the only person I’d be failing if I stopped would be me. I was done disappointing myself! If I did fail on some occasions, I dusted myself off and started again and again. I am now studying to become a personal trainer.
How did you change your eating habits?
I lost 114 pounds in 2019 the first time around by following the Cambridge weight loss plan we have in the UK (it’s also called the 1:1 diet). After ten months of this, I weaned myself back to regular food and maintained these results for a while.
Then, I gained around 20 pounds in the Summer of 2020. From December 2020 until now, through a calorie-controlled Keto diet and exercising on my own and with a personal trainer, I have lost 20 pounds again.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I currently do 30 minutes of HIIT fasted cardio every morning, and I weight train 5-6 times a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 287 pounds. My current weight is 173 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5 feet, 6 inches tall.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in January 2019, and I’m still going.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Self-love is the most important thing. You should do it because you love and care about yourself, not because you hate your body.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Never give up on yourself. Remove any negativity from your life. Always forgive yourself and move on. If you fall, get up and try again.
