Transformation of the Day: Chelly B. lost 48 pounds. After graduating from Howard University, she lost 100 pounds by eating clean and exercising daily. Then, during the first few months of the 2020 lockdowns, she was stressed, bored, unfocused, and the pounds came back. She shared with us how she got back on track in August and released the weight.
Hello! My name is Chelly B., and I am in love with all things related to Health and Wellness. I am also very passionate about helping others become the best version of themselves.
After graduating from Howard University, I weighed 263 pounds. It was the heaviest I’d ever been in my life. I didn’t feel good about myself at all. Eight months later, I lost 100 pounds naturally by eating clean and exercising daily.
Fast forward to 2020; I decided to start my own business focused on health and wellness. On January 1, I created a weight loss group/community to help people achieve their goals. I created meal plans, workout routines and exercised with people in person. I also provided them with motivation, companionship, and support. Everything was going great until the gym closed down due to the Pandemic.
During the quarantine, I was stuck at home, stressed out, bored and hungry. Gradually, I gained weight again. I must admit that during those six months, I had all the time in the world to exercise, eat right and focus on my weight loss group. But did I? Nope. I chose to watch Netflix and eat magnificently instead.
After speaking with friends and family, I realized that I wasn’t the only one who put on extra pounds during the quarantine. So on August 25, 2020, I started working out at home and eating healthier.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I wanted to get to my goal weight and feel happy and confident again, which inspired me and continues to inspire me to keep pushing.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped ordering and buying outside food. Instead, I started cooking and eating healthier. I cut out all junk foods, soda, and snacks and replaced them with vegetables, salads, chicken, and fish.
What did your workout routine consist of?
My workout routine consists of cardio. I do 15 minutes on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the elliptical, and 15 minutes on the Stairmaster.
How often did you work out?
I work out five days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 233 pounds. My current weight is 185 pounds. Since losing the weight, I’ve created an ebook to help others do the same. I also have a website where I sell health and wellness products, and I started a 2021 online Weight Loss Group.
What is your height?
5’5″
How long did your transformation take?
It took me six months to lose about 50 pounds. I still have work to do, and my weight goal is 155-160 pounds.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, all-natural weight loss. No surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned so far is that it is inevitable that I will mess up. That is okay. As long as I get back on track and push myself to keep going, that’s all that matters. When challenges, I’ve learned not to be hard on myself because we all go through it.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight? Losing weight and keeping it off is hard work. It won’t happen overnight or even one month. However, if you work hard, stay consistent and make it fun, you can do it.
