Weight Loss Story: Chasity lost 40 pounds. This Alpha Kappa Alpha soror and busy mom realized that she had to dedicate some time and energy to getting her life back and reclaiming her health. Prayer and going vegan have been key to her success. Check out her story.
Height 5’2″
Weight before diet: 176 pounds
Current weight: 136 pounds
Goal weight: 125- 130 pounds
After having my first daughter, I made the choice to breastfeed. As a result, I lost all my baby weight and was able to get back in my regular size clothing. After a year, I stopped breastfeeding and gained over 20 pounds. I started to think only of my child. I would not eat when I was supposed to. Instead, I would pick up fast food because I was always rushing to make it home to my family. I didn’t have any energy, I complained all the time about my weight and my clothes didn’t fit. I knew I had to GET MY LIFE BACK!! I realized how important it is for women, but especially mothers, to take care of themselves so they can take care of their family.
I decided to join a gym and pay for a personal trainer. That was a waste of money, because I continued with my bad eating habits. After a year of no results, I became desperate and put my own self on a diet, the Omni diet. I ate only 4oz of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was the hardest diet ever and one that most people won’t do, but it worked fast. Examples; Breakfast 1 apple. Lunch 4 Oz of each chicken breast and asparagus. Dinner 4oz of each tilapia and cabbage. I ate this way for 5 weeks!
I lost over 20 pounds, but I knew I wanted to maintain my weight loss. So, I decided to research veganism. What does it mean? How would this fit into my life? After researching, I decided that I would become a healthy vegan. I had to pray and ask God to help me change my mindset on food and learn to enjoy the taste of certain foods I hadn’t been eating. God did just that.
When I went vegan, I cut out all animal products. No cheese, milk, meat, sour cream, mayo, eggs. In the beginning, I took things really slow until I could get use to eating in a new way. Breakfast: Vegan yogurt and a peanut bar. Lunch: Beans and vegetables. Dinner: Veggie soup or salad. It’s always challenging going out to eat. I have to look up restaurant menus ahead of time.
For exercise, I do cardio and strength training. I run on the weekends and also take boxing classes at 757 boxing! I exercise 3-4 times a week and drink a gallon of water everyday.
I have lost a total of 40 pounds and I am in the best shape I have ever been! January will make a year on my vegan journey. I am healthy and I will never eat meat or animal products again. This is my life now and I love it!
I get it now and I would be selfish not to help others get it as well! To others who want to lose weight, I would say pray about it first! You have to be tired of being overweight. You have to motivate yourself and don’t depend on anyone else! Have the willpower and go Hard!

I’m happy for you. You look good. think you look good before. Was your blood pressure, cholesterol, or sugar high reason why you went on the diet? I feel the weight and height charts are bias. I’m 5’3″ and 170 lbs. and I look and feel good. The weight and height chart says I should be 120-130.
