Charlene has lost 42 pounds since November 2019. Intermittent fasting and bodyweight workouts have worked for her. Faith and prayer were also crucial to her success. Now she truly understands that all things are possible.
When did you start your journey?
I started making changes on my own on November 30, 2019. That was the day I bought my scale, and my husband said to me that I needed to lose the weight one too many times.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you felt like givng up?
I hated the way I looked in pictures, and what I saw in the mirror. I hated being uncomfortable all the time. Now that I see how good it feels to put myself and health first, I never want to go back to the old me.
What inspired me to keep going was seeing how loose my clothes are. By the grace of God, I have a great support system of people who hold me accountable.
How did you change your eating habits?
I met a guy who owns a fitness and nutrition company called NeverDieEasy. He gave me meal plans and taught me about intermittent fasting. He was always available to talk when I was feeling weak, and he always held me accountable. When I walked into 2020, I came in with a new keyword to live by every day: “Discipline.” I am tired of letting food and hunger control my life.
The first thing I did was fast. I put the fork down and pushed back from the table. At first, it was hard, but I started to feel really good. I would dry fast for 24 or 48 hours twice a week, giving my gut time to rest and my body time to heal from the inside out. I stopped eating so much fried fast food and carbs. I cooked my own food, incorporating more fruits and veggies into my meals.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you workout?
I work out 3 or 4 times a week. I don’t go to the gym. I just use my own body weight with high-intensity workouts for 5 to 10 mins at a time.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I’ve lost 42 pounds since November 2019. When I bought my scale, I weighed 282 pounds. I couldn’t believe how much I’d let myself go. Today, I weigh 240 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’5″.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I’ve learned that it is okay to put myself and my health first. If I don’t take care of me, no one else will. I feel very good about myself these days, and I want to keep it up.
What advice would you like to share?
Ladies, you can do this. I remember how I was so scared of failure. I didn’t even want to try in the past. Through prayer, divine help, and faith, God is showing me that through him ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Also, I was really motivated by BWLW. If we can do it, so can you.
