Transformation of the Day: Char lost 70 pounds. We have been following her story since 2019. She wrote to us to share how she’s working on getting rid of the quarantine weight with a low-carb lifestyle. She is determined to be a healthy example for her pre-teen daughter.
Hi, my name is Char, and I was able to lose 80+ pounds on a low carb/Keto diet. I started my journey in May 2018 and was able to lose 80 pounds by 2019. Now, I’m working on getting off the quarantine weight by incorporating a low-carb approach!
What has kept you motivated?
What has kept me motivated is always my daughter. I have a pre-teen, and she looks to me as an example when it comes to how to eat. I try my best to stay on track because I want to set a great example for her. I also have an online community of women who look to me as an example and thought leader in the weight loss community.
How did you change your eating habits?
When I initially started keto, I didn’t know it was called “Keto.” I began by cutting complex carbs and incorporating more fat into my diet through fatty proteins. I also put oils and butter on my proteins and veggies. Then, as I did more research, I discovered macronutrients and how to utilize them to help me lose weight. I try to keep my daily carb allotment between 20-50 grams daily during maintenance and lower if I’m trying to lose weight.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often do you work out?
I love to include exercises like cardio, HIIT, and hiking in my routine because they help with fat loss. I try to work out 3-4 times per week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 270 pounds
Current weight 200 pounds
Is weight loss surgery or skin removal surgery part of your journey?
Surgery is not a part of my journey, but I totally support anyone who decides to have surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned on my weight loss journey is that it truly takes time. You can’t rush weight loss or results. You have to dig deep and keep going no matter what!
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice for women who want to lose weight is to have a solid plan and stick to it no matter what. Even if you are not losing weight at the speed you want, keep going and making those small changes over time. Believe me, they do add up!
