Chantale lost 70 pounds. For years she struggled to lose weight, even trying crash diets. In 2018, she decided that she needed to make some practical changes to create a healthier lifestyle, so she did just that.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
For years and years, I struggled to lose weight. It got to the point where it became an obsession. I would do crazy crash diets.
What motivated me the most was the fact that I started becoming very jealous and insecure. My weight never seemed to be a problem for my significant other, but it was always in the back of my mind. Ultimately, I wanted to live a healthier lifestyle. Giving up this time wasn’t an option. I focused on my goal and went for it.
How did you change your eating habits?
For the first month, I incorporated a no-carb diet, started drinking a lot more water. Then, I began to eat more fruits and vegetables. I also ate more protein and healthy snacks. I ate less red meat or lean meat.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you workout?
In the beginning, I was in the gym every day after work. Once I got to my goal weight, I went to the gym every other day. I always did cardio for 30 minutes then went to the weight room.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 240 pounds, and my current weight is 170 pounds.
What is your height?
5’2″
How long did your transformation take?
From January 2018 to March 2020
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
That ANYTHING is possible. “I CANT.” shouldn’t be in your vocabulary. Whatever you are doing, make sure you are doing it for you.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
It’s not easy. As we all know, it’s ten times easier putting on weight than losing it. Focus on your goal. If you don’t have one, set one. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.
Also, seek out a nutritionist. They can help. Seek therapy too. People tend to forget that mental health can also affect your weight. There is nothing wrong with seeing a therapist.
