What was your motivation?
My motivation was keeping my dreams, aspirations, and career goals at the forefront. I knew that losing weight was not only going to benefit my health, but I would open so many doors for me in my acting career.
I was just tired of what I saw in the mirror every day. I also saw what my body and my health could look like in the future (in the form of other people I’d see on a daily basis). I wanted to fight for my future.
How did you change your eating habits?
I broke it down by meal– breakfast, lunch, and then dinner. I would do a kitchen inventory of everything I had. Some of the food I had in my cabinets I could eat. Whereas other foods I had, I couldn’t eat. As I kept going, everything I ate felt lighter on my stomach but still filling and satisfying at the same time.
I stopped eating red meats (which I NEVER thought in a million years I would do). I realized how heavy it made me feel after taking forever to digest it all fully. Besides, it made me battle my digestion in the bathroom. I started eating egg whites! I never knew the egg yolk is the fattening part. I actually prefer whites over regular eggs now.
What did your workout routine consist of?
My workout routine consisted of just doing resistance training. I followed the guidance given by my online trainer, King of the Fire. Even during the current global pandemic, Fire provided an alternative to help keep me on track for my fitness regimen. I would work out five days a week, going in for and 1 hour and 40 minutes each day.
How long did your transformation take?
My entire transformation took only seven months! I started seeing results around my 50th gym trip that kept me motivated to keep going (around the very beginning of June). I saw a big change in my face first, then I saw a change in my legs, from my calves working up to my knees and quads.
The Fitness on Fire Online Training Program worked for me because it’s nice having a dynamic where an online team is still on me as much as they would be if they were physically there. Their support allows me to hold MYSELF accountable for my progress. Not to mention, they are super fun to talk to and very encouraging when you’re feeling down. I have never tried any other program before trying this one because I was overwhelmed with information from many different resources and didn’t know where to turn. Fitness On Fire jumped out at me because I saw black women losing weight the natural way. They produce AMAZING transformations, and I only wanted to be apart of that community.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
KEEP GOING! What helps you get through your workouts is listening to upbeat, exciting music that gets your blood rushing and your heart rate up. Also, keep your goals ahead of you. They may seem so far away when you start but maintain a healthy mentality that you are fighting for your future. You get to your goals in no time!
