Transformation of the Day: Cerelia lost 56 pounds. Chronic asthma hindered her from exercising over the years and the meds she took caused weight gain. She was able to release the weight by walking and switching her diet to Keto. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
I’ve always been teased about my weight. My chronic asthma prevented me from exercising or doing normal things. I’ve also always been on medication that increased my weight or made me hungry.
One day, I was going to an interview, and someone had to move to another seat on the plane because I was so heavy that I was squeezing them. It was then that I decided to take my life
back.
How did you change your eating habits?
I read up on keto and decided to give up bread, grains and any foods that are high in sugar. I focused a lot on cooking, and no longer buying fast food for a “fast fix.” I also increased my water intake. I drink about 12- 16 glasses a day.
What did your workout routine consist of?
Along with keto, I do light cardio. I’m still under my doctor’s care, but I walk 3-4 days a week. I work with students, so I am always moving. But before I go home, I put on my walking shoes and take a walk for an hour.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 306 pounds. I am proud to say that I weigh 250 pounds right now. I plan on dropping another 70lbs!
What is your height?
5’1″
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation
take?
August 2018. It took six months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned that I do possess power. In the past, I would internalize every mean thing people said to me. I thought they were speaking the truth. However, I saw in the mirror (and see it more and more now) that I am beautiful. I know that I am strong and I can accomplish my goals.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
Never give in to the negative voices. It will be hard, but let God move and take the lead. You’re capable of all great things.
