Transformation of the Day: Cayonna lost 73 pounds. She’s gone from a size 18 to a size 8. After years of focusing on the needs of those around her and seeing her childern all grown up, she decided that it was time to turn the focus on herself. This bride-to-be had company on this journey. Her fiancé got results as well. Check out her story.
What was your motivation?
I was over forty and ending a 20+ year marriage. My children were all grown and well into living their own lives. It was time for me to live.
What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
I thought about the many years that I was focused and consistent with helping everyone else achieve and accomplish their goals. I thought, “If I can help others, what I can do for myself?”
How did you change your eating habits?
I know it’s cliche but, I met a man. He was a diabetic and not caring for himself very well. Together, we decided that our life as we knew it had to change. We started eating according to a diabetic diet. (I found this site via Google and got creative) We stopped eating sugars of all kinds and absolutely cut out sodas.
What did your workout routine look like?
I started by walking three days a week for at least a half mile. Within a year, my walking increased to over five miles a day, 4-5 days a week. I also did one hour of I Love Kickboxing 3-4 days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 238 pounds and my current weight is 165 pounds. I’m 5’4”. I am currently looking into having my skin tightened, but not until I’ve reached my personal goal weight of 130 pounds.
My then best friend and now soon to be husband had great success as well. Our wedding date is March 31, 2018.
How long did your transformation take?
I started in August 2016 and it took a year.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
Commitment to your own goals will yield desired results.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
Starting was the hardest part, but once you start to see small results you get excited. When you see major changes, you’ll get hooked.
The first picture was taken at an even on November 2016. I was wearing a size 18 dress. I was so excited to return to the same event in November 2017 and take this picture in a size 8 dress.
