Cathy lost 22 pounds. Not only did this proud mom want to lose the weight, she was determined to keep it off. She changed her eating habits and changed her mindset An at home fitness program gave her the flexiblity she needed workout regularly and get results. Check out her story.
My motivation initially was to lose weight. Not only did I want to lose the weight, I wanted to keep it off. It wasn’t until recently that I realized I was a yo-yo dieter. Or… that I was a “get fit for the season” type of person. The thing that inspired me the most when I wanted to give up were my children. I also really wanted to prove it to myself that I was capable of finding a solution and sticking to it.
I started by changing my eating habits. I ate more vegetables and fruits and replacing all the convenience foods. I started cooking more and experimenting with recipes. I also drank more water and added lemon to my drinks.
Then, I was introduced to Beachbody workout programs (T25, PiYo, 22 Min Hard Corps, Core de Force). I started to see the weight shed and my body began to tone as a result of using these programs. My problem areas (abdominal, back and thighs) started tightening and muscles began to develop.
I began drinking Shakeology, a nutrition shake filled with superfoods and vitamins. I can attest that this helped lower my cholesterol considerably and made my hair grow like weeds. It also gave me the energy that I lacked and healed me from the inside out! I also began using portion control containers from the 21 Day Fix program to not only eat healthy, but to eat according to my goals. I learned how I can use food for fuel.
I started working out 5-6 days a week for 30-45 minutes per workout, depending on my schedule and the workout program.
My starting weight was 159 pounds, and now I weigh 137 pounds at 5 ‘4″. After having my baby it was really hard to find the right schedule that worked with baby sitting and my husbands schedule. That is why I opted for at home workouts. I also stopped throwing my money away at the gym, because I wasn’t going. I can workout on my schedule, instead of when the gym was having classes.
Through Beachbody, I found a team and a community of like minded people on the same or similar health and wellness journey. They cheered me on when I didn’t want to work out or when I lacked the motivation.
While losing weight was my initial goal, during my journey I learned that this was a marathon run and not a sprint. Not a quick fix. This changed my mindset and my life. I’ve gained so much confidence and it’s made me a better person. It’s helped me tap into BIG scary goals that I would not have even thought about, all because I have this can do and capable attitude.
Essentially what I did different was that I became a coach. Although I was not where I wanted to be on my health and wellness journey (still not), I gave myself the ultimate accountability by becoming a coach. I coach women and this keeps me on track with my goals, because I know I have to be the product of the product. I have to be a positive example and by being that I have attained so many of my own goals along the way.
The best advice I could give is never stop! Even when you fall off track, don’t get discouraged. Starting over is better than quitting! You are the best investment, so don’t look at cost. Do your research, look at the bigger picture and think about how you’ll feel when you reach your goals!
