What is your current weight?
My current weight is 270 pounds.
How have you continued to get results?
I continue to weight train and do cardio/HIIT workouts 5-6 days a week. My food routine is the same as well.
Would you like to offer any new or different advice to women who want to lose weight?
This journey is a painful one, but you have to look at how beautiful the outcome is!! For those struggling with weight loss, remember there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.
Do you want to know if I’m done? Nope! This is only the beginning because I will always put my health first. I want to be around to grow old with my biggest supporter, my husband. I want to see our children grow up. Learn from my journey, Family. Learn to love yourself enough to make better choices daily!!
August 4, 2020 – Transformation of the Day: Cassie lost 90 pounds. After her father passed away to heart failure in 2013 and facing her own health issues, she knew that she had to change her lifestyle. She worked out at home and never stepped foot in a gym during her transformation. Adopting habits she could commit to long term, like clean eating, was also key.
My name is Cassie. I’m a wife and mother of two beautiful children! I hope my journey can inspire someone that may not have the courage to step out on faith and achieve their health goals. I am currently down 90 lbs, and I achieved this all by working out at home and changing my lifestyle when it comes to eating.
What was your motivation?
My first motivation to lose weight was the death of my father at the age of 58. He died of heart failure in 2013. I remember the day he died like it was yesterday. I think to myself daily, “Would he still be here if he took care of himself? “. When I was at my heaviest (380 pounds), I started to have heart flutters. My doctors could not figure out the cause of it. I knew if I didn’t do something, I would end up just like my father. This very thought kept me going, especially when I wanted to give up and welcome whatever fate was heading my way.
My second motivation was my husband, James. When I first met him, I was only eating canned green beans as a “veggie” with all of my meals. He taught me that food is like a book that is waiting to be read. You can do so many creative things with it and make it taste great. He showed me that my lifestyle was limited, which is why the numbers were climbing up on the scale.
How did you change your eating habits?
I decided to give up beef because that was something my father and I ate a lot of. I knew our bodies could not digest beef easy so I figured I would see how my body would react when I gave it up. When I did that, my health journey took off. I lost 12 pounds in two weeks! I couldn’t believe how fast that weight came off. I knew then I couldn’t go back to eating beef.
I also cut out all sugary drinks, and I started drinking only water. I committed to a lifestyle change and decided not to “diet” because that’s only temporary. No one really thinks about what will happen when your diet is over. You typically go back to your old ways, and then you try the next quick diet fix. I decided to do 90% clean eating, and I left 10% open to giving in to my cravings.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I work out 5-6 days a week at home. I have never stepped foot into a gym. I find all of my workout videos on YouTube. I could not fit in the time to go to the gym, and I didn’t want to spend the money on something I won’t use daily.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 371 pounds, and my current weight is 281 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’11,” so my weight is proportioned very well.
When did you begin your transformation journey? How long did it take?
This journey started in February 2019, and it took me a little over a year to get to this point. I was not in a rush.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I did not do any weight loss surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
This journey has taught me to love myself and be ok with the person I see in the mirror. I remember the feeling I had about my dad, and I keep pushing myself. I also learned that beating myself up because I may have gained instead of lost weight was damaging. I know it made things worse for me mentally.
My health is a priority, and I needed to make changes to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I want to grow old with my husband and see my kids grow up.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Don’t give up! Pat yourself on the back when you take two steps forward, but don’t fall off your horse when you take three steps back. This journey is not a walk in the park! You didn’t gain the weight overnight, and it will not come off right away. Learn to love you for you on a daily basis! You matter, and you don’t need to become your worse enemy.
