Transformation of the Day: Cassandra lost 91 pounds. This mental health counselor realized that she was lacking sleep, constantly stressed, and just didn’t feel right in general. To restore her temple, she worked out daily and figured out what eating habits work for her. Check out her journey.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
As a mental health counselor, I enjoy helping others. At the end of 2015, I realized that I was always stressed, unable to sleep, and didn’t “feel right.” This revelation is what guided my journey to become whole and to restore my temple.
What inspired me during my first year was the idea that I only have one body. Also, I want to be able to leave a legacy of health for my children (when I have them). I wanted to change what I’ve always seen (unhealthy eating and poor fitness) within my family.
How did you change your eating habits?
During my first year on this journey, I stopped eating carbs. I cut out sweets, treats, and dairy. My meals included lean protein, lots of vegetables, and water. I’ve been vegan at times within my journey, but due to my heavy lifting and being uneducated of how to get appropriate protein, I started eating meat. As of now, I’m a pescatarian, and I eat carbs in the right portions.
What did your workout routine look like?
I work out every day. In my first year, I did some form of cardio every day. After my first year, I started working with a trainer because I wanted to build muscle and not become flabby from all the cardio.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 261 pounds
Current weight: 170 pounds
My lowest weight was 170, but I started adding lean muscle
What is your height?
5’4″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I began in January 2016. By January 2017, I lost 100lbs, and I have been working on THIS masterpiece daily ever since.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Nope. My journey consists of changing my eating and working out.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
This journey is all in the mind. Being able to gain discipline in one area showed me that this can be translated into ANY part of my life.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
You are an amazing person who has experienced many hurdles and valleys. Use your overcoming of difficult losses, trauma, grief, hurt, and pain as a way to ignite your health journey! It’s worth every frustration, sweat, tear, and it will show you how BOMB you are.
