Update: Cassandra is still going strong. She lost 100+ pounds.
Transformation of the Day: Cassandra lost 75 pounds. She was tired of being picked on and wanted to improve her health, mentally and physically. Maintaining a calorie deficit was key to her success. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
A lot of things motivated me, to be honest. I was tired of being picked on, and I wanted to be more active. I’m also doing this for my health, mentally, physically, etc.
How did you change your eating habits?
I didn’t use any specific weight loss plan. I thought about it, but instead, I just stuck with what I’ve been doing: eating at a calorie deficit. I barely drink regular soda or juice these days. I still eat some of my fave foods but only in moderation. I ate a lot healthier than I did before (Things like broccoli, chicken, cauliflower rice, stir fry, ground turkey lettuce wraps, green smoothies, etc.)
What did your workout routine consist of?
I started working out two months into my journey. I work out a few times a week. I do a mix of cardio (on the Stationary bike or treadmill) and strength training (exercises like bicep curls, kettlebell squats, and lifting barbells). I work out on my own, but I hope to do small group training one day.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 293 pounds. My current weight is 218 pounds.
What is your height?
5’5″
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in January 2019. My journey took almost nine months, and I’ve still got a long way to go!
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned that weight loss takes time. I learned that there will be bumps in the road but that’s okay because we can learn a lot.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
You need to have patience, consistency, and persistence. There were times I wanted to give up, but I stuck through it. Ladies, you can do anything you set your mind to!
