Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Cassandra lost 72 pounds. After the passing of her husband of 40 years, stress and depression brought on weight gain. That was coupled with high blood pressure, high cholesterol and the potential for diabetes. With the urging of her doctor, she embraced new habits that have led to a new lifestyle. Here is what she shared with us about her journey…
My name is Cassandra J. and I am 60 years old. Five years ago, I lost my husband after being married for 40 years. I was already some what overweight, but with stress and depression my weight went up to 260 pounds. My blood pressure and cholesterol was high and I was borderline diabetic. My doctor put me on medication and suggested that I walk for exercise so that I would not have to go on medication for diabetes.
In February 2014, I started walking and doing some dancing exercises. I also changed my eating habits and added vitamins and protein shakes to my diet. In one year, as of February 2015, I had lost 60 pounds. Now, 1 year and 6 months later, I have lost a total of 72 pounds. I weigh 188 pounds and my height is 5’4″.
I stopped eating a lot of carbs and sugar. I ate some but not as much as before I changed my eating habits. I walk four days one week and dance the next week for three days. My advice for others is to be consistent. Don’t be discouraged when you don’t lose any weight one week and don’t deny your self that “goody” food some time.
