Casey lost 50 pounds. Her family is her motivation. She wanted to break a cycle of bad eating habits that have led to diabetes running in her family line. Cutting out junk food, working with a personal trainer, and working out six days a week led to great results.
The picture to the left [below] was me in 2017 at 170 pounds. I was not living a healthy lifestyle, physically or spiritually. I didn’t feel like I was God’s Masterpiece at all. The photo on the right is me now, in 2020, at 120 pounds. I’m healthy, not just physically but spiritually and mentally as well. I know now that I’m not junk. I am God’s Masterpiece!
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My family. My family has a history of diabetes, and I believe that came from unhealthy food choices. I wanted to break the pattern of bad eating habits that was passed down to me and make healthier habits for me and my family.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating fast food, fried food, and sweets. I still needed help as far as knowing what healthy foods to eat. My church member, who is also a personal trainer – Daire to Reinvent, helped me. I also joined the Heat Challenge with Darrell Patterson.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I did fasted cardio. I used the Stairmaster for 30 minutes or doing a HIIT Class. I also did strength training working on all the major muscle groups throughout the week.
How often did you work out?
Six days a week, and I rest on Sundays. I devote that day to my family and God.
When did you start your journey?
2/6/2019
How long did your transformation take?
About a year do to me not being consistent, so I lost ground.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
Before I could transform my body, my mind needed to be renewed. I had a lot of junk on the inside that needed to be removed. Once I removed all the hurt and bad habits, I was able to be successful on my path to a healthy lifestyle.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
Never, ever give up. Be consistent, and you will see the results. Never make excuses. Push pass the emotions. Encourage and build yourself up daily.
