Caroline lost 26 pounds/12kg with healthy eating habits and exercise. Our Kenyan sister gained 40 pounds after giving birth to her daughter. Her workout routine includes full-body workouts and jogging. She also looked at weight loss transformation stories for inspiration.
I’m a Kenyan, and I have been following Black Women Losing Weight since 2016 for inspiration and weight loss motivation.
When I got pregnant with my daughter, I gained a lot of weight. I went from 65kgs/143 pounds to 83kgs/183 pounds after giving birth. I tried working out. However, my diet was still very poor, so I was not losing weight. I took full pictures of myself one morning and could not believe that it was me. My stomach was huge. That’s when I decided to make some lifestyle changes.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I watched other people’s weight loss stories, and that kept me motivated. Taking lots of photos helped too, as they show me how far I’ve come.
How did you change your eating habits?
I cut out dairy, wheat, sugar, and red meat from my meals. I started eating lots of vegetables, fruits, and drinking water. I never used to control my portions, so I bought a partitioned plate to help me with that.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I was and still working out six days a week. I combine jogging and full-body workouts. I recently joined a gym because I’m trying to tone up.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I started at 80kgs/176 pounds to 68kgs/150 pounds currently.
What is your height?
I am 164 centimeters/5’3″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started working out and strictly watching my diet in May 2020, so it’s been four months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that consistency is critical to weight loss and diet plays a huge role when it comes to our bodies.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
