Transformation of the Day: Carole lost 137 pounds. This proud mom saw that her weight was causing her to avoid social situations, going out with friends and family and even shopping trips. She cleaned out her pantry and fridge, began walking for exercise and didn’t look back. Check out her journey.
What was your motivation?
As I watched myself gain and gain over time, I begin to see myself withdraw from friends, stop shopping and stop going out with my children. I eventually became a hermit. I also began to have knee pain and back pain and realized that if I didn’t want to be crippled I had to motivate myself. I kept a picture on my refrigerater to remind myself everytime I wanted to quit.
How did you change your eating habits?
I emptied my cupboard of any bread, rice, pasta and sweets (all empty carbs). I emptied my refrigerator of all soda, ice cream and anything that was not healthy. Then, I went shopping and bought lots of protein (fish, chicken, eggs etc.) and replaced rice with quinoa. I continued healthy meal prepping weekly.
What did your workout routines look like?
I began by walking 5 days a week. I did half mile in the morning and half mile in the evening in the beginning. I slowly moved up to one mile in the morning and one mile in the evening.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was a whooping 297 pounds. I now weigh 160 pounds and would love to loose a few more. My height is 5’5″. (No surgery)
How long did your transformation take?
It took my 16 months to get to where I am today.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Weight loss is something that can not be forced on anyone. This is something you have to be mentally ready to do. If it is forced on you, you will relapse and regain the weight. Look at your life now and visualize where you want to see yourself. Take that vision and make it a reality. When things get hard and you want to quit, pull out those old pictures as a reminder. I also suggest that you change your diet and make it more interesting and find a weight lost group for support and accountability. It is possible and you can do it!

My sister brought me to this group by posting your success story on my facebook page in order to help encourage me to continue my weightloss success. I am doing a smoothie cleanse and am on day 8 of 10. I have lost over the past month about 16 pounds but I want and need to lose at least 130 more pounds. I like your idea about putting a picture on the refrig. I think that will work for me. I was on vacation in April in Chicago and took pictures with my family and did not like how bloated I looked in them. I came home the following week and started cleaning out my cabinets and refrigerator and I am determined to move forward and not look back.

Lovel what type of smoothie cleanses do you do? I have tried a few that taste horrible or that are full of fruit that make the smoothie too sweet. Leading me to stop all together.

Can I join you ladies. I recently realized that I’m 316 lbs, and I really want to lose 140 pounds. I like to eat n I hate exercise…I live in cold Michigan n there are times when it’s just too cold to go work out, but I’m going to try to stick to my diet n workout plan. My friends are all smaller than me, so they don’t take exercise n diets seriously n I don’t have anyone to embark on this journey with…I’m frustrated n I really want to lose this weight, so I can gain my confidence back.

Coming from someone who lost 50 by herself my advice to you is PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t wait for anyone else before you start your journey. No EXCUSES…if u can’t get out the house because of the cold find a DVD and pop it in. If nobody wants to workout with you SO WHAT put your eaebuds in and keep it moving

I have really enjoyed reading your testimony. I was truly inspiring. I want to transform my life for the better. I am 43 and really feel I have a lot to work on. But I am going to take one day at a time and really work on me. I have been working and helping others and neglecting myself. So cheers to good health and finding the real me.

It has been a difficult task trying to lose weight and keep it off! After many failed attempts, I have made up in my mind that it’s time to live a healthy lifestyle! My turning point was getting in a plane and barely closing the seatbelt. I refuse to ask for an extension!!!🙅🏼 Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Carole’s testimony proves that hard work and dedication really do pay off. What I enjoyed most about Carole’s journey is that she did the old fashioned way. What an inspiration!
