Transformation of the Day: Candace lost 116 pounds with healthy eating habits and exercise. Back in March 2021, she shared with us how she lost 71 lbs, and she is still going strong. She has conquered the hardest part of the journey, maintenance. Check out her awesome tips and insights.
I’ve lost a total of 116 pounds, and I’ve kept to the same regime of healthy eating and exercise.
What is your current weight?
My current weight is 241 pounds.
How have you maintained your weight loss/continued to lose weight?
Maintaining weight loss has been just as challenging as initially taking it off. The work is never done. I totally eliminated meat from my diet, and I’ve been sticking to fish, fruits, veggies, and minimal carbs. I also try to avoid added sugars, soda, refined carbs, and excessive alcohol.
What is your workout routine?
I do a host of at-home exercises at least three times a week, as well as some work in the gym at least once a week. Walking and climbing stairs have been the bulk of my cardio routine throughout this journey.
Of the lessons you’ve learned on your journey, which one stands out the most at this point?
The lesson that has stood out the most during this journey was that the scale is only a guide. I’ve had so many non-scale victories that didn’t always match up with the numbers. Simple things like jogging up the stairs and not getting winded or not having to request the strap extension on an airplane, or being confident that I’d be able to meet weight requirements at the amusement park. I’ve also learned that it’s not always about weight loss, but instead, it’s about nutritional gain. Yes, reducing your intake of unhealthy snacks can help you shed pounds, but it also helps avoid long-term conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
Would you like to offer any new or different advice to women who want to lose weight?
Losing weight doesn’t have to be as hard as we perceive it to be. We often put so much pressure on ourselves around the goal of losing weight that it becomes overwhelming, and we quit. Once I decided that I would not let food control me, that changed the game.
Get an accountability partner. Don’t do it alone! You will need the support, encouragement, and unfiltered truth during your journey.
Start a journal to track your progress! I couldn’t find one that suited my total transformation, so I created one! I have written a journal to help others on their journey called Re-Calibrate available on Amazon: Re-Calibrate: A 21 Day Journey reset, rejuvenate, and refresh your life. I will continue to work toward my goal not only to change my life but to influence someone else to change theirs.
Even if you don’t like photos, take lots of them and document your journey!
Concentrate on total wellness, not just weight loss.
If you value something, you will take care of it. We value so many things, money, career, children, reputation. We go out of our way to protect these things by any means necessary. But, what would happen if we truly found value in our wellness? What lengths would we go to fight for it?

I’m going to try what you did. Sounds like a plan I can handle. I have a referral for weight loss surgery. But I’m going to try this this first. You are incredible. And you look amazing . Thank you for sharing your journey.
