Transformation of the Day: Camille lost 41 pounds. She wanted to be healthier overall, mentally, spiritually, and physically. Her workout routine progressed from walking to running, and she focused on eating nutrient-rich, whole foods.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation was to get healthier all around, mentally, spiritually, and physically. My health was not my priority at first, but now it is. This is the best decision I’ve ever made.
I also wanted to break the cycle of poor eating habits that impacts the African American community and contributes to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancers.
How did you change your eating habits?
I incorporated more fruits and vegetables into my diet and stopped eating meats. I also increased my water intake and stopped drinking alcohol for a year.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
My workout routine consisted of walking, and then I became an avid runner. (Small steps lead to big changes).
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 188 pounds. My current weight is 147 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’4″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey on January 1, 2017. It took approximately three months of consistency and mindful eating for me to actually see a change.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned was that I eat to live, not live to eat.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
You can do it. Make small changes. If you can’t run, walk. Also, still treat yourself but use portion control and eat intelligently. When I say eat intelligently, I mean eat from the earth as much as possible. Eat foods that provide your body nutrients and wellness.
Also, follow the 80/20 rule. If you do the right thing 80% of the time, the other 20% treat yourself and rest. You got this, BEAUTIFUL BLACK QUEENS. MIND OVER MATTER.
