Transformation of the Day: Camilla lost 80 pounds. She was suffering from hypertension, diabetes and knee pain. Gastric Sleeve surgery, a low carb lifestyle and lots of exercise are the tools she used to change her life and her relationship with food. Check out her story.
What was your motivation?
I was suffering from hypertension, diabetes and knee pain. Basic things, like walking on stairs and light lifting, were becoming a struggle.
Starting weight/Current weight
I weighed in at a whopping 324 pounds in the beginning. I under went Gastric Sleeve surgery on June 27 2017. I now weigh 244 pounds. I have lost 80 pounds and counting. My goal weight is 190 pounds. By the grace of God and with consistency. I can do it!
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my diet to low carb foods only. Low carb foods I love to eat include, spinach, bacon, avocados, cucumber, turkey and cabbage. I never want to allow food to play such a big role in my life ever again.
What does your workout routine look like?
I usually work out 4 times a week doing a mixture of Zumba cardio, walking, elliptical, and free weights.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned is to keep moving. Make exercise a part of your daily life, even if it’s a 30 minute walk. Also, know when you have eaten enough and when you’re just eating for comfort. I’ve learned to listen to my body. It is telling you everything it wants and everything it doesn’t.
What advice do you have for other women who want to lose weight?
My advice for women who have struggled with their weight like I do is to just get to the root of the reason why food has become the biggest part of your life. Once you do that, you can find something to replace it. Get a hobby, workout, go dancing, talk to a friend… do anything you need to do in an effort to lose your co-dependency on food.
