Transformation of the Day: Cam lost 80 pounds by counting calories, working out and working with a nutritionist. She wants to avoid a family history of diabetes and live a lifestyle that will allow her to be a healthy mom in the future. Check out her transformation story.
I started my journey in May 2016. At the time, I weighed just shy of 400 pounds at 5’11! That number scared the crap out of me and I felt like I hit rock bottom.
I’ve lost 80 pounds so far by counting calories, talking about macros with my nutritionist and working out 6 days per week. My current weight is 320 pounds. I still have 70 more pounds to go until I reach my goal weight, but I’ll get there! I’ve lost inches all over and dropped about 6 pant sizes and one dress size.
What was your motivation?
My motivation for losing weight is to be happier and healthier and to stay that way. I have a family history of diabetes and I refuse to allow that to become my story.
I would also like to become a mother sooner than later and I need to be healthy for that. I intend on being the healthiest mom I can be.
My third motivation is my love for travel! My experiences become more and more exciting while on vacation with the more weight I lose.
How did you change your eating and exercise habits?
In the beginning, I would just get on the elliptical and cut calories to get results. Now that I’ve learned so much about health and wellness, I watch my nutrient intake, eat high protein and I lift heavy at least 6 days per week.
I’ve cut out all fast foods. I’ve had to cut back on breads and cookies… lol. Now, I eat a bunch a green veggies and I make/buy a green smoothie daily. My daily calorie intake is 2000 per day when I work out and 1800 when I don’t. When I first started, it was 2400 calories and before that it was probably doubled.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that consistency is key. There’s aren’t any shortcuts to massive weight loss and I forgive myself for poor choices.
What advice would you share with other women who want to lose weight?
I would advise other women to stay consistent and to remember that bad days can happen. Get a supportive network, and after that, the sky is the limit!
