What was your motivation?
My husband motivated me to get up and get back to my routine. I had stopped working out. I completely let myself go before, during, and a month after the holiday season.
How did you change your eating habits?
For breakfast, I’ll eat Greek yogurt, fruit, and oatmeal or granola. Snack is usually another piece of fruit, veggies, or almonds. Lunch and dinner are usually whatever I cooked the night before for my family, which is always a combination of rice, protein, and a veggie. I also drink a gallon of water daily and hot water with lemon and take supplements in the morning and before bed.
What is your workout routine?
My workout routine: 2-3 days a week, I do full body workouts focusing on lifting heavier for compound movements. I do a variation of the squat, lunges, pull-downs, pull-ups, push-ups, etc.
I still do at-home workouts when I cannot make it to the gym. Those workouts include HIIT workouts jumping jacks, jumping rope, etc. I also focus on core exercises to strengthen the Diastasis Recti I’ve had for a long time.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 216 pounds. However, I do not weigh myself anymore for personal reasons. Instead, I go by my clothes and energy level and test my strength in the gym. So I have no idea what my current weight is, and I’m fine with that.
What is your height?
I am 5’2″.
When did your journey begin?
I started my journey in 2013 after giving birth to my son, and I have been on my journey since.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I didn’t have surgery, but I don’t judge other women!
How long did your transformation take?
As reflected in the first picture, it took me four years. The other picture is about two months apart and was taken when I was fixing my gut health issues.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I learned is that comparison is the enemy! I had to learn to stop comparing my old body (after I had my son and got in the best shape of my life) to my body after having my daughter.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
My advice for women who want to lose weight: don’t let time determine anything! Take this journey day by day. Make 85-90% of your moves intentional, meaning you’re thinking like this: “How can I make my next meal healthier.” That mindset shift will be a game-changer for you! Also, find healthier options for you and your family to cook at home so you can have leftovers for lunch.
