Transformation of the Day: Brittani lost 43 pounds. She had an eating disorder in high school, and after getting better, she experienced significant weight gain. Over the years, she’s worked to be the healthiest version of herself, while learning that this journey is not linear. It comes with challenges, but they can be overcome.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going?
My inspiration was to be a much better and much healthier version of myself. I hadn’t been taking care of myself.
I was bulimic in high school between the ages of 15-18, dropping to 98 pounds. After I got better, I gained 100 pounds and was at my heaviest. I was fed up with my unhealthy ways and decided it was time to get serious about my health.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
My initial journey started in October 2015. By October 2016, I dropped to 144 pounds. I lost sight of my goals and gained weight in 2018 but finally got 100% serious at the end of 2019. My full transformation took about four years. I am still a work in progress, working on building and maintaining muscle.
How did you change your eating habits?
I didn’t use any specific meal plans. I’ve been successful using moderation. I didn’t cut out all of the things I love. Instead, I would just eat less of those things or opt for healthier options.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I started using Shaun T’s Insanity Max:30 at the end of 2015 and lost 20 pounds in two months. After I completed that program, I got a gym membership. I would lift weights 3-5 times a week and incorporate cardio some days. I trained legs three times a week and the rest of my body on the other two days. I would also do HIIT.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight for this journey was 198 pounds. My current weight is about 155 pounds.
What is your height?
My height is 5 feet tall.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I’ve learned that this journey is not linear in the slightest. It is truly a roller coaster. However, as long as you can identify when you’ve fallen off track, you’ll be able to continue working towards your goals.
What advice do you have for people who want to lose weight?
My advice would be to never give up on yourself. You are fully capable of reaching the best version of yourself as long as you never lose sight of your goals. Also, do what is best for you and don’t let social media influence your perception of you and what you should be doing. Instead, use social media as a way to stay motivated, inspire others and help them keep sight of their goals.
