Britnie lost 28 pounds. She knew it was time to make some changes when her health started to decline, and she developed issues, including pre-hypertension and thyroid problems. She changed the way she fueled her body and took up boxing and weight training for exercise.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation and inspiration came from health issues arising due to my weight. I always felt that being my previous size was not where I was supposed to be. I simply got too comfortable until I started seeing a decline in my health and issues such as pre-hypertension and thyroid problems. What has inspired me to keep going is how good I feel and my vision of myself at my goal weight.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started to change my eating habits to fuel my body and get the energy I needed for working out. I started eating better, and anytime I tried to grab something unhealthy, I would feel ill. I gave up dairy, bread, and processed sugars. I eat mainly whole foods, seafood, many exotic fruits, and I take sea moss every day. I practice intermittent fasting as well to cut my calorie and carb intake.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I have a love for boxing. That is where I get a full-body workout, and I’m constantly building muscle. I also lift some weights because I learned this is really good for the body.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight? My starting weight was 298 pounds (basically 300lbs), which scares me to say. My current weight is 270 pounds. The scale says I lost 28 pounds, but I definitely feel like it’s more.
What is your height?
My height is 5’10”.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey on November 5, 2020, and have been enjoying this journey ever since. I am so glad that I began this journey because I feel better mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Surgery has not been apart of my journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned is to listen to my body. Everyone is different. What worked for other people that I have met didn’t work for me. I had to find my own way. This time, I’ve been more successful than I’ve ever been when it comes to my wellness.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice to women who want to start this journey is to continually remind themselves that their life and health are worth it. It’s not about the weight loss, but the life gained. The journey is not easy, but it’s worth it. Your future self will thank you.
