Transformation of the Day: Britney lost 70 pounds. She struggled with her weight for years and used emotional eating to cope with bullying and abusive relationships. Tired of being unhappy and depressed, she decided that enough was enough. Working with a trainer and joining Weight Watchers are two of the ways she took action.
I’ve struggled with weight the majority of my life. I saw a pattern of emotional eating/snacking that came from school bullying and, later in adulthood, abusive relationships. Doctor’s visits consisted of me being told, “You are pre-diabetic. You have high blood pressure and fat in your liver. If you don’t lose the weight, you’re headed down a bad road”. These words didn’t phase me until I started seeing my physical appearance change drastically. Also, I barely any energy to get out of bed. I started becoming even more unhappy and depressed.
In 2016, I weighed in at my highest weight of 295 pounds. A talk with my grandmother resonated in me and gave me the motivation I needed to get going on this weight loss journey. In 2017, I got a trainer and started developing better eating habits. Over the course of 4 months, I lost 40 pounds. Then, the emotional eating crept back up, and I noticed I wasn’t losing pounds but instead maintaining due to my workouts.
I finally said enough is enough. In Fall 2019, I joined Weight Watchers. Since starting the program to now (8 months), I’ve lost an additional 30 pounds in addition to the 40lbs I lost with my trainer. My health issues have gone away, and my confidence has increased drastically.
My goal weight is 185 pounds, and I currently weigh 225 pounds. I am proof that you can start, and even though you may have setbacks. Those setbacks don’t mean the end of your journey.
I’ve documented my feelings in a journal to help when I feel emotions rising. I’m also tracking my progress through videos on Youtube. I’m so much happier and healthier now that I’ve made my health the top priority.
