Transformation of the Day: Britney lost 70 pounds. At 17 years old, she was told that she had borderline diabetes, also known as pre-diabetes. This young lady took this wake up call seriously and immediately began making changes to avoid an unhealthy lifestyle. Check out her journey.
What was your motivaiton to change your life?
All my life, I’ve struggled with my weight. All through out middle school and high school I was teased about the way I looked. When I was 17 years old, I was diagnosed with borderline diabetes (also known as pre-diabetes). The doctor told me that if I did not start eating healthy and working out, my health would get worst as I got older. That visit with the doctor was a real wake up call and from that day forward, I started exercising and changing my eating habits. I was also motivated by learning that diabetes and heart disease ran on both sides of my family.
What did you do in terms of exercsing and changing your eating habits?
As far as how I changed my eating habits; I eliminated all fast foods, sweets and fried foods. I ate more salads, fruits and I drank plenty of water. When it came to working out, I would go to the park and walk or run at least 2 or 3 laps daily. I also work out at my local gym.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 220 pounds. Today, I am 25 years old and I weigh 150 pounds at 5 feet, 4 inches tall. My journey does not stop here. I still work out and watch what I eat not because of my weight but because I care about my health.
How long did your transformation take?
I started my journey for a healthy lifestyle when I was 17 years old. 9 years later, I am still maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
What advice would you give to other women who want to lose weight?
My advice for other women is to never give up on your goals. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it and work for it.
