Transformation of the Day: Britney lost 60 pounds. She was unhappy with what she saw in the mirror and knew it was time to change that. She also wanted to be a happy and healthy mom for her young son. By having weight loss surgery this year and making fitness a priority, she has transformed her lifestyle.
What was your motivation?
A lot of the support weight loss groups motivated me. Also, I would look in the mirror and be so unhappy with my appearance. I knew it was time for a change, so I started putting motivational Post-it notes all over my bathroom mirror to keep me going.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My son, who is one year old, full of life, and so happy, inspired me. I wanted to be a healthier person for him.
When did you start your journey? April 2021
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey? Yes. I had VSG weight loss surgery on June 30, 2021. [Gastric Sleeve]
How did you change your eating habits? I started a food journal log and reached out to my doctor. We spoke weekly, and I entered a weight loss program.
What foods did you stop or start eating? I completed gave up sodas and introduced more protein-based drinks into my routine. I have been following the Keto diet for the last month.
What did your workout routine consist of? I work out 5-6 days a week doing 30 minutes of cardio each day (elliptical, treadmill, bike riding, and 1 mile walk every evening after dinner). On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I work my upper body (arms and back) with dumbbells.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
I have finally taken back control of my life, going from 275 pounds to 215 pounds!
What is your height? I’m 5’4″.
How long did your transformation take? So far, I’ve lost over 50 pounds in approximately three months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far? I learned that patience and faith are the most essential parts of the process and the keys to success. I also learned that the physical aspect of this journey is just one piece of the puzzle. You have to mentally and emotionally be stable.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight? Stay focused. Focus on your journey and trust the process. Everyone loses weight differently, so don’t stress about the scale. Eat cleaner, work out, pray, and everything will work out.
Also, don’t expect an overnight transition. There is no magical pill for weight loss. It’s all about being consistent!
