Transformation of the Day: Bre lost 55 pounds. After being overweight her entire life, she decided that it was time for some major changes. Clean eating, portion control, exercise and disciple was the perfect combination for success. Check out how she created a new healthy and positive lifestyle.
Having lived my entire life overweight, I decided that enough was enough and began the journey to creating a healthy positive lifestyle so I can live a long, vibrant life. I went from eating fast food everyday to eating nutritious food for fuel. I went from doing zero workouts a week to working out 5 days a week (sometimes twice in one day).
I’ve lost 55 pounds naturally (down from my highest weight). I’m working to lose another 80 pounds to achieve a healthy weight for my 5’3″ frame. No gimmicks, just clean eating, portion control, exercise and discipline! It took getting my mind right to get my body right. I also wrote a wellness guide to help others get in the right mindset in order to take control of their lives and live a healthier life. I want to help other people realize that they can do it too.
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
The fact that all my goals (health and others) hit roadblocks because of my weight. I want to be able to be the best version of myself and live that truth everyday.
How did you change your eating habits?
I cut all processed foods out, especially anything you get from a drive thru window. Now, I eat anything that grows in the soil or on a tree. If it is a packaged item, I make sure to know what all the ingredients are. No sodas or artificial drinks. I mainly drink water and tea.
What did your workout routine look like?
I started out using the elliptical and worked my endurance up from a half hour to an hour. I added weight training and did the same thing… working my way up to doing more reps/sets. Recently, I started running outside. I always hated running, but now I find I have so much energy and endurance that it doesn’t wear me out like it use too.
When did you start your journey?
My journey started in November 2017, but I didn’t go into full gear until January 2018. Now, I can’t imagine my life any other way. Some days are hard and some days are easy, but consistency is key.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
If you want it bad enough then you have to be disciplined. Results won’t come overnight. You have to not only trust the process, but trust yourself and have patience.
What advice do you have for other women who want to lose weight?
Do it for you and let other people be the inspiration. In the past, I was doing it for other people and not for myself, and all those times I failed. Now, I am doing it for me but it inspires me to know that those who care about me are benefiting from me being able to live a happier, longer life.
If you stare in the rearview mirror, you will crash. Keep moving forward!
