What was your motivation?
I joined Fitness on Fire immediately after Christmas last year. I was motivated to feel more in control of my work stress, and I had the desire to lose the Covid lockdown weight I gained.
What inspired you to start your weight loss journey?
I was inspired by the journey of other black women on the fitness page who were achieving real results. So I thought to myself, “If they can do it, so can I.”
How did you change your eating habits?
Having a qualified nutritionist suggest healthy, wholesome foods was a great selling point for me. Sometimes it’s difficult to know what to eat with all the “noise” online about what foods are actually healthy.
Having the list of foods and their food groups to choose from was brilliant and gave me the structure I needed. I ate somewhat healthily in the past. However, learning about food combinations was very insightful and changed the way I eat on my plate.
Prepping my food to save time and ensure that I ate healthily all the time was very helpful because I have a demanding and stressful job.
First, I followed the eating regimen given to me by my online nutritionist, @Nutritionistguru. I started to eat chicken breast and turkey and stopped adding oil during cooking. I also started grilling most of my meats.
I began drinking 2.5-3 liters of water a day, which is something I thought I was incapable of doing before the program. I have also stopped eating red meat altogether. I have truly surprised myself.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I followed the workout regimen that was super easy given to me by my online trainer, “King of the Fire” with the Fitness on Fire Online Training Program. I went to the gym at least 5-6 times a day. I love the simplicity of the program. It was easy to follow, and I didn’t feel overwhelmed with too much to do and too much information.
How long did your transformation take?
I have been in the program for nine months. I first started seeing results within the first four weeks. That gave me something to look forward to at each milestone.
What advice do you have for other people who want to lose weight?
If I can do it, you can do it. Find a program that is easy to follow and stick to it. Don’t listen to the “noise” around you.
