Transformation of the Day: Ayesha lost 110 pounds. This proud mom of 2 decided to change her lifestyle when she was diagnosed pre-diabetic. She learned that getting results was 80% eating habits and 20 % exercise. Check out how she took action and transformed.
I decided to embark on this lifestyle change when I was informed by my doctor that I was pre-diabetic. I have two small girls, who need me greatly. I wanted to be an inspiration to my young princesses.
My journey began in April 2016. I started off by walking on a track, and from there I began walking briskly up hill. Then, I began jogging. Now, I focus on weight training and high intensity interval training. I weight train 5 days a week and do cardio 6 days a week.
I’ve changed my diet significantly. No sugar, flour, fried foods, juices, soda or red meat. I’m not doing any fad diets. Instead, I simply eat to nourish my body.
I started off at 300 pounds, wearing a size 22. I currently weigh 195 pounds and wear a size 12/14. My height is 5’1″
My advice for people looking to lose weight is to stick with it. You may not see results instantly, but trust the process. Remember, it is a marathon, not a sprint. I like to say that I manifested my journey. I told myself that this was my time and that I will accomplish the goals that I set forth. I would also stress the importance of eating right. This journey is 80% diet and 20 % exercise. I would also tell everyone not to wait on the right “time”. If you have to start off working out at home, so be it. It’s important that as women of color we invest in ourselves, and investing in yourself begins with investing in your health.
My Instagram is @fitlosophical_. I use it to motivate and uplift others who may be on the same journey as I am.
