Update July 2020: Shout out to Ayecia for reaching her goal weight of 170 pounds. She has released 80 pounds total. Check out her update.
I started my journey five years ago, and I have officially met my goal weight of 170 pounds! It was especially hard to stay on track during this pandemic, but thankfully I was able to push through. I was able to stay focused by maintaining my powerlifting regimen while being in quarantine.
My starting weight was 250 pounds, and my final weight is 170 pounds. I’ve lost a total weight loss of 80 pounds!!
Losing weight has given me the opportunity to train other people on how to obtain their health and fitness goals. I am a trainer with Late Bloomer Fitness as I may have been late to the game, but I’m here, and I’ve made a difference. My primary focus is to help our community live long and healthier lives!
Transformation of the Day: Ayecia lost ten more pounds for a total of 75 pounds gone. After the end of an abusive relationship, she bounced back from depression and emotional eating by transforming her lifestyle and becoming a powerlifter. Check out her journey.
My weight loss story was featured back in December 2018. I am proud to say that I made it to my weight loss goal of 175lbs!
How long did your transformation take?
In total, my complete transformation took three years, and I’ve lost a total of 75 pounds! I couldn’t believe it’d been that long and that I stayed consistent, and I persevered.
What was your motivation?
Original motivation she shared with us in 2018: I’d just gotten out of a mentally and physically abusive relationship of 5 years. I found out that the last five years of my life had literally been a lie. In the relationship, I was force fed… meaning if I didn’t eat the fattening food he cooked 24/7 I was going to suffer! So, I ate, and I ate. After the breakup, I continued to eat because I was in a state of depression. Eating was all I knew to do. One day, after a trip to Miami with friends, I looked at the pictures from the trip and saw how big I’d gotten. I was horrified and decided to make a change.
Motivation for this phase of her transformation: My motivation remained the same, but I stepped it up a notch. My boyfriend was prepping for his bodybuilding show, so I decided to switch things up as I’d started to plateau.
How did you change your eating habits?
I cleaned up my diet quite a bit as I’d started to relax quite a bit. I ate a high protein, low fat, and moderate carb diet. I completely cut out soda, juice, bread, and sugar. I primarily ate low-fat foods. I also ensured that all of the meat I ate was 90% lean or more. The meat that I ate was bison, salmon, and chicken.
How did you change your workout routine?
My workouts got even crazier! I worked out seven days a week. That was a real test of my dedication and willpower. I also completed a two-month bodybuilder program.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 250 pounds, and then I dropped down to 185 pounds. However, I just couldn’t get rid of that last 10lbs for some reason. Now, I am proud to say that I made it to my goal weight of 175 pounds.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to never give up on yourself and to trust the process. You didn’t gain the weight overnight, so you won’t lose it overnight. Don’t give up. Keep going!!!
