Ashley lost over 60 pounds. After a wake up call on a walk home from her daughter’s school, she decided to turn her pain into a passion for healthier living. She is working hard to release the weight to be a healthier mom for her daughters and to improve her mobility. Check out her story.
I remember weighing 392 pounds and attempting to walk my child home from school. We only lived 5 blocks away, but my back and legs were hurting so bad that I could not take another a step. I fell to the curb and cried. My daughter was only five years old at the time. She didn’t understand that my body had given out on me. I felt so lost and ashamed.
I wanted to lose weight but had no idea where to start. I ran into a family friend while running errands and was amazed to see that she was half her size! She helped to motivate me to lose weight and she never gave up on me.
I have lost 67 pounds in a little over 7 months. I have no plans of stopping until I reach my goal weight of 200 pounds. I am 5’4″ tall and currently weigh 325 pounds.
What inspires me when I want to give up are my daughters. I battle with depression and have been hospitalized for attempted suicide. I know what it’s like to feel lost and helpless. I know what it’s like to look in the mirror and see a complete stranger. When I’m discouraged, I think about being a better mother and that is what keeps me from giving up.
I am on a specific program designed by Maxine Scott. I have one full meal a day, two meal replacements, and healthy snacks. I walk for an hour typically 4-6 days a week. I have tried to shy away from fried foods, sweets, and bread. I allow myself one cheat day a week to prevent binges.
The advice that I have for anyone who wants to lose weight is BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. Believe that you can do it. The main key is staying focused, staying positive and enjoying the journey. It can be overwhelming at times but don’t give up. You’ll feel so much better when you start believing in yourself, trust me.
