Transformation of the Day: Ashley lost 75 pounds by cutting carbs and doing lots of exercise. Initially, she started her transformation to get into the police academy. Eventually, her motivation switched to gaining confidence and creating a healthier lifestyle.
What was your motivation? What inspires you to keep going, even when you’ve felt like giving up?
My initial motivation was getting into the police academy. However, after becoming serious about my journey, I realized it was about way more than that. I lacked confidence in every area. I wanted to be more confident without needing compliments from others.
What motivates me when I want to give up is how far I’ve come, how quickly I achieved my weight goal and achieving my dream body.
How did you change your eating habits?
I changed my eating habits and started doing Keto. During that time, I lost 20 pounds. During my Keto journey, I was eating vegetables and food that is high in fats but low in carbs (which is what the diet has you eat). After about three weeks, I had to stop because I begin to break out in a rash. After doing some research, I figured out I had the keto rash, so I stopped the diet. Then, I began to cut out carbs completely. I mainly focused on consuming veggies, protein, and I ate healthy carbs occasionally. It was hard at first, but after fully committing to it, these changes became easy because I knew that a change was necessary in my life.
Tell us about your workout routine.
I knew I needed a scheduled workout routine, so I started researching trainers. After a few days of research, I found an amazing one by the name of Philly Weeden. Unfortunately, his training roster was full. So I joined his gym and started taking the classes they offered. I worked out five, sometimes six days a week, and I worked out 2-3 times a day. I was more determined than I’ve ever been. Eventually, after proving myself to the trainer, I earned my spot and started training with him two days a week while continuing to take classes at the gym.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 230 pounds, and my current weight is 155 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’5″.
When did you start your transformation journey?
I’ve been on my weight loss/fitness journey for a year now. I started my journey on January 5th, 2019, and my transformation took six months. I am currently still transforming my body, so I would say I’m currently still working on it.
Was weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, weight loss surgery was not apart of my weight loss journey.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that life isn’t easy, and life happens. Make that change that you’ve always wanted. Otherwise, you’ll regret the decision forever.
What advice would you like to share with people who want to lose weight?
I would tell them to jump in. No, your results may not be like mine, but loving the way you look when you look in the mirror is a fantastic feeling. Yes, I loved myself before, but now I love myself even more for becoming healthy and working to make it a lifestyle not only for myself but for my entire family.
