Transformation of the Day: Anita lost 27 pounds with healthy eating habits and exercise. Her initial motivation was to lower her blood pressure. However, she is also on a mission to live a long life and see her daughter grow up, get married, and have children of her own. Earlier this month, she turned 47 yrs old, and she is thriving.
My name is Anita, and I’m from Mobile, AL. I turned 47 yrs old on August 7th. I’m married, and I have a 19-year-old daughter.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation to lose weight was my health. I had a dentist tell me that they wouldn’t pull my teeth until I got my blood pressure under control. So, to do that, I chose to lose some weight.
What inspired me to keep going is being able to live a full, healthy life and see my daughter grow up, get married, and have children of her own. Recently what has kept me from giving up is that I lost my Mom back in February 2021. Unbeknownst to me, I gained some weight back during her death and funeral arrangements. I took a couple of weeks off from working out but got right back into it in March. Her death was so unexpected that I knew I had to do something to keep myself occupied and not go back to my old ways.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped eating fried foods, stepped back from fast foods, cut out the sodas, and drank more water. In June 2021, I decided to do a 30 Day No Meat challenge. I removed meat from my diet, and I also drank Herbalife Nutrition shakes and teas. When I took the picture in that leopard outfit in June, I decided to put it side-by-side with the picture I took the day of my Mom’s funeral, and I was blown away.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I work out three days a week at 5:30 am in a Bootcamp class. In July, I did a 25 Burpees a Day Challenge as well. I’m always trying new things because our bodies get used to the same workouts, so you have to make sure you are working out new muscles.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 252 pounds, and my current weight is 225 pounds.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started my weight loss journey in 2015, and I hit my goal weight of 215 pounds in 2016. Since then, my weight has been a roller coaster ride. I’m currently trying to get my goal weight again!!!
What is your height?
I’m 5’7″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I have had no surgeries. I hate pain, so I don’t plan on having any surgery in the future.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned so far is that I can do anything I put my mind to. Oh my goodness, how I love food and especially meat! I found the willpower not to eat meat for 30 days, and that is amazing. Especially having to cook dinner that included meat for my family, but I stayed strong and true to myself.
What advice do you have for women who want to lose weight?
My advice to women who want to lose weight is to take it one day at a time. Take baby steps, set small goals, and once you reach those goals, set new ones. It is a Mindset thing. You have to truly want it for yourself. No one else will do it for you. Know that it doesn’t happen overnight, so be prepared to make it a Lifestyle instead of a Diet.
