Transformation of the Day: Anissa lost 76 pounds by cutting out processed food and finding a workout routine that works for her. She recently celebrated her 50th birthday. She decided to change her lifestyle after being diagnosed with pre-diabetes.
What was your motivation?
I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes in January 2020, and I told myself, “Heck No!” I started doing my own research on healthy foods and bought new sneakers. I lost 72 pounds by eating healthy food and walking. My weight loss is all-natural.
I just decided to do it on my own because I knew I needed to learn how to eat healthy and stay at it. Every day is not easy, but I do it. I love the fact that I can move without aching and breathing hard. I am just happier today, and I feel amazing at 50 years old.
How did you change your eating habits?
I googled and looked on YouTube for healthy meals. I stopped eating processed foods, white foods [white flour, white sugar, etc.], and junk food. I also stopped dining out.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I started my routine by working out 30 minutes a day. Then I increased the time as the months went by to 1 hour, 10-minute walks. Later, I progressed to lifting weights four days a week. I usually rest on Sundays.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight is 248 pounds, and now I weigh 172 pounds.
What is your height?
I am 5’8″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started this journey on January 14, 2020.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson learned was to give myself Grace.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My best advice to women who want to start their journey: Start slowly and build upon your efforts each day as you become a better you.
