Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Angela lost over 120 pounds, going from a size 24 to a size 8/10. Motivated by wanting to be there for her young children and tired of fighting her weight for years, she make simple changes that have paid off big. Here is what she shared with us about her weight loss journey…
Back in 2010, I decided that it was time to make a lifestyle change. I was married with a newborn and a 2 year old, so my motivation was being around for my two small kids. I didn’t have much energy and I was in my fifth year of teaching elementary school. I decided at the beginning of the year, I would start walking and counting calories.
I really didn’t change what I ate, just how much I ate. Learning to shop in a way that made food cheaper also helped. I just ate smaller portions and increased my water intake. I started off keeping my calories under 1200 for the 1st 6 months. I eat a lot of healthy snacks, have small meals and cut out fried food. I worked out when I felt the urge, mostly weekends. Walking was a big part of my weight loss. After I lost the first 29 lbs, that motivated me to continue.
Since 2010, I’ve lost over 120 pounds and managed to keep it off. I am 5’9″ tall and weigh around 162. I was nearly 300 lbs before I decided to make the lifestyle change. I’ve been healthy since Jan. 2015. I never want to go back to my old size, because I’ve struggled with my weight my entire life. Now, Now, I am 35, FABULOUS and in better shape than I was at 20 years old. I’ve gone from a size 22/24 to 8/10. I was morbidly obese and now my BMI is 24. Losing weight was the best decision I’ve ever made.
