Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Angela lost 53 pounds. After being diagnosed with hypertension and put on high blood pressure meds, this proud mom decided to commit to being the healthiest, most fit version of herself. Here is what she shared with us about how she did it…
In my thirties, I did not take my health seriously until I was diagnosed with hypertension, and was immediately placed on high blood pressure medication. At that moment I knew that I had to get a hold of my health for my own well being. With exercise and clean eating, I was able to go from 190 pounds to 137 pounds, dropping over 50 pounds (height: 5’2″). My transformation took about a year. I felt that I had a commitment to be the best me I could be for the sake of being a healthy mother and a role model for my young son. I have managed to keep the weight off for over three years. I now am a group fitness instructor and personal trainer at a Cleveland Clinic affiliate.
I changed my eating habits is by following The Advocare 24 Day Challenge, which totally change my way of thinking. I ate lean meats, fresh fruits, vegetables and complex carbohydrates. I cut out all sugary drinks, juices, fast food, and late night snacking. Now, I meal prep every week to keep myself on track.
I also workout five days a week by lifting weights and doing cardio. I teach hip hop cycle and Zumba classes in addition to my workouts. I love to help others and I love to feed off their energy. I would advise anyone who wants to lose weight to start off with a 24 Day Challenge, because that will get you on track to eating properly, because it is not a diet, it is a way of life. Physical activity and proper eating habits go hand in hand. You can find photos and workout videos on my Instagram: @angeem73
