Transformation of the Day: Angel lost 80 pounds. This mom was dealing with a lack of self-esteem and self acceptance. She decided that it was time to take her body back. She signed up for a friend’s exercise group and began to change her eating habits, including having some meatless days. Check out her journey.
My motivation for losing weight was the fact that I hated the way that I looked. I saw a couple of pictures of myself and I was horrified at my appearance. I felt so unworthy as a person. My daughter said to me one day, “Mommy, you are so plump, but you’re still cute.” Those words cut me like a knife. You see, I use to tell my daughter that she took my shape and I wanted it back. So, I decided that if I wanted my shape back I was going to have to put in some work.
A friend of mine started a virtual gym and was looking for women who were serious about making a change and living a healthier lifestyle. I immediately signed up. She called the group the squat squad. Now, I need to mention that my friend is a vegan and she subscribed to Dr. Sebi’s teachings. I have no desire to become a vegan, but I did watch a couple of Dr. Sebi’s videos and made some changes to my eating habits as a result.
I really had no idea how out of control my eating. I stopped drinking whole milk and started drinking almond milk, I cut processed sugar from my diet, as well ask bread, soft drinks and fast food. I also started eating fresh vegetables and fruits. I decided that one meal a day would be without meat, until I was able to go a whole day without it. Now, on Mondays and Thursdays, I don’t eat meat.
As I mentioned before, my friend started a virtual gym where I could work out in the comfort of my own home. All I needed were a couple of hand weights, a jump rope and a kettle bell. She would post the day’s workout online. After completing the workout, I would post in the group for accountability. After a couple of weeks, I noticed that my clothes were getting loose. I started out wearing a size 24 and I am now down to a size 16. My goal is a size 14.
As a group, We worked out 3 days a week and rested on the 4th day. I followed a strict routine which involved planks, push ups, tricep dips, bicep curls, sit ups, crunches, jumping jacks, and squats. I drank a gallon of water a day and went to bed no later than 10pm. My workout routine started at 5 am, but only because I am a morning person and working out that time of day prepared me mentally and physically for the day ahead.
My starting weight on May 1, 2016 was 267 pounds. My current weight is 187 pounds. I am 5’2″ tall. My goal is 167 pounds, so my journey continues. My advice is never give up or lose sight of your goal, no matter what life throws at you. Now, I eat to live instead of living to
eat.
