Transformation of the Day: Andrea lost 40 pounds. When she was diagnosed with Lupus, she decided it was time to change her lifestyle. Healthy eating habits and exercise worked for her, but self-love is the most important factor in her success.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
The key to losing weight is to first love yourself. You have to love yourself enough to want a better healthier life.
For a long time, I wanted to lose weight but what inspired me to keep going was when I was diagnosed with Lupus. It motivated me to live a healthy lifestyle.
How did you change your eating habits?
My eating now consists of low sodium meals and I cook all my meals. I rarely would eat out. I prepared my meals using salt-free seasonings. I also cut out beef or pork.
What is your workout routine?
I workout 4 days a week. My workout routine has changed with time. Today, I’m more focused on weight training but it’s also good to do cardio for endurance. In the summer, I am at the gym. In the winter, I do home workouts that consist of more reps than weight.
Starting weight/Current weight
My highest weight was 215 pounds. I went down to 155 pounds. Now, I’m a solid 175 pounds and I love it. My height is 5’6″.
When did you start your journey? How long did it take to get these results?
I started my journey about 7 years ago when I decided to put my health first. I believe the body achieves what the mind believes. It took me about 6 months to get to my goal weight.
What advice would you share with people who want to release the weight?
My advice is to love yourself enough to want a happy, healthier you. Be consistent and just keep pushing. No one can do it for you. You have to do it for yourself.
