What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
One day I woke up and stepped on the scale, only to look down and find that I weighed 300 pounds. All I could think was, “How did I get here? How did I allow myself to get this out of control?” I secretly knew I was stressed and emotionally ate throughout the entire day. Also, I’ve been overweight throughout my entire childhood/adulthood, but this was the heaviest I’ve ever been. Honestly, I was disgusted with myself and addicted to junk food.
I knew it was time to make a change, and my health was my motivation. I physically and mentally felt drained. Each day is a battle when you have an unhealthy relationship with food. I often find myself wanting to give up, but my health and my son have been my inspiration to keep going.
How did you change your eating habits?
At the beginning of my weight loss journey, I worked with a holistic nutritionist who helped me correct my horrible relationship with food. Currently, I follow a Paleo lifestyle along with Intermittent Fasting (One Meal A Day).
I eliminated dairy, sugar, carbs, condiments, and processed foods from my diet.
What is your workout routine?
I occasionally ride my bike, jog, walk and jump rope.
How often did you work out?
I walked and/or jogged daily.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 300 pounds, and my current weight is 200 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’5″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
Although I haven’t reached my goal, my transformation took less than a year.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that food should be used to fuel the body, not to fill a void. The key to successful weight loss is nutrition. You are what you eat.
What advice do you have for other women who want to lose weight?
Trust the process, love your body throughout this process and stay consistent!
