Transformation of the Day: Amanda lost 42 pounds. She was tired of talking to her doctor about her weight, being fatigued all the time, and feeling heavy. She made a promise to herself that she would adopt healthier habits and create a new lifestyle, and she did just that. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
I started my natural weight loss journey on January 1, 2018, weighing 299 pounds. I set a goal to change my lifestyle and to be healthy. I committed to becoming physically active and changing my eating habits.
For many years I have tried to lose weight, but I was never successful. I would start and then give up when I didn’t see results. My motivation to begin this journey came from within because I was tired of my body feeling heavy and being fatigued all the time. I did not have much energy, even after having rest. I was tired of hearing my doctor tell me that I was overweight, and how it increases my chances of developing health problems. I know I have control over my body. This time, I will push myself to be the best version of myself and inspire others.
How did you change your eating habits?
I didn’t follow a specific diet. I stopped eating fast food and drinking soda. I also stopped eating meals late at night and going to sleep right after.
I eat more green vegetables and meat. I also eat bread, rice, pasta, and have fruit occasionally. I let go of my bad habit of drinking sugary drinks throughout the day. Instead, I increased my water intake to 14-16 cups daily, and I drink juice occasionally.
What did your workout routine consist of?
I work out five days a week. I do cardio for 45 mins to an hour every workout. My workouts consist of working out on the treadmill, elliptical, stair master, cycling, or going swimming. I do weight training three days a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 299 pounds, and my current weight is 257 pounds.
What is your height?
5’6″
