Transformation of the Day: Alyssa lost 58 pounds by working out and cooking the majority of her meals at home. While doing self-reflection, she decided that she wanted to work on her physical self along with her mind. Check out her story.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
I wanted something different! I was doing a lot of mental self-reflection, and I knew I needed to work on my physical self as well. I knew there was a finish line, and if I didn’t quit, I’d see it.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started cooking. Before I started my journey, 90% percent of what I ate was take-out. I started preparing the majority of my meals at home. I did NOT cut out any specific foods (I have a huge sweet tooth). However, I did cut back my meal sizes.
What did your workout routine consist of?
At the beginning of my journey, I worked out about five days a week, doing mostly cardio. Currently, I work out about 3-4 days a week, and I alternate between cardio and strength training.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 220 pounds, and my current weight is 162 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’7″.
When did you start your journey? How long did your transformation take?
I started in February of this year. The majority of my weight loss took about four months.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I did not have any surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?
I learned not to be so hard on myself! I also learned that self-forgiveness is essential because there will be days that I disappoint myself.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Take pictures! When I feel like I’ve gone backward or I’m stuck, I look at my before pictures. It’s a huge motivator to keep pushing!

Thanks for sharing! I tend to be hard on myself and I’m so sick of diets. I love that you didn’t give up any type of food. Great job.
