Transformation of the Day: Althea lost 82 pounds. This proud mom of 4 and grandmother of 6 was inspired by a family member’s weight loss journey. She did her own research and figured out what would work for her to release the weight. Check out her journey.
My weight loss journey started in February 2015. I started out weighing 240 pounds and I’m 5’3″ tall. My current weight is 158 pounds, so I’ve lost a total of 82 pounds. My weight loss journey is not over. My goal is to weigh 140 pounds by the end of 2016. What keeps me motivated is the fact that I feel more confident in myself.
I’m the mother of 4 children and grandmother to 6 grandchildren. My story begins about two years ago when I was watching my sister in law transform her body. She started losing weight and I was impressed. So, a year later I decided it was time for me to make a change. I had been dieting all my life but I was never able to keep it off. I had heard about low carb eating for weight loss and I decided to do some research on it.
I decided to try it and started off by eating 50 grams of carbs a day. Once I had lost 20 pounds, I lowered my carbs down to 20 grams a day. Eating a low carb diet requires you to eat a lot if protein and green vegetables. I eat nuts for snacks and I also have some fruits, but it’s fruit that is very low in sugar.
I also joined a gym. I work out 4 to 5 times a week and I do a lot of cardio and strength training.
I had to learn that it is not about dieting, its about a lifestyle change. Today, I would like to inspire other woman by encouraging them that this can be done. It’s all about staying focused and sticking to your goal. It’s not always easy but it’s very well worth it.
My advice would be to stick with it and don’t give up. We didn’t gain weight overnight, so it most definitely will take time to lose the weight.
