What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going during the tough times?
My motivation to get healthy was to be able to show up and be a better parent/family member. What inspired me to keep going was this is either life or death. My body was on the verge of suffering numerous health issues, and I needed to reclaim my life.
How did you change your eating habits?
Before I restarted my weight loss journey, I did a lot of research about adding more protein to my diet, which was a game changer. I started eating more chicken, turkey, Greek yogurt, etc. I found that foods high in protein helped keep me full longer and aided in my body recomposition goals. I also used to drink a lot of alcohol. I cut that back dramatically.

What is your workout routine?
My current workout routine involves weight training and cardio. I have a weekly routine/split that targets the upper and lower body.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My overall starting weight was 280 pounds. When I restarted my weight loss journey in January, I weighed 260 lbs. I am currently 194 pounds.
What is your height?
I’m 5’3″.
How long did your transformation take?
Back in 2020, I decided to start my weight loss journey. Everything went great until I fell back into old habits. Over the next three years, I gained almost all my weight back.
In January 2023, I decided I’d had enough and got back on it. This time was different because I had more knowledge and passion. I truly wanted to lose the weight and keep it off this time. Taking a different approach and not focusing on the scale has been a game-changer for me. Instead, I focus more on setting strength goals and will continue to do so.
My current transformation has taken nine months.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is no one is coming to save you. You have to be ready to do the work yourself. No one is going to hold your hand. You have to want it bad.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice for women who want to lose weight is to set smaller goals. Don’t just focus on your main goal. The smaller goals will always lead up to the big ones.
