Transformation of the Day: Alexis lost 38 pounds. After splitting up with her former fiancé, she decided to pour into herself by completing her Master’s degree and adopting a healthier lifestyle. Intermittent fasting and walking 2-3 miles a day is working for her.
In October 2018, I gave birth to my first child. In doing so, I became a stay at home mom and a fiancé. I strictly dedicated myself to those roles. Over time, I noticed that I had gained ALOT of weight, but I was not ready to commit to change. My child’s father (my former fiance) and I split, and I decided to pour into myself. I completed my Master’s degree, landed a new job, and then decided to take on a healthier lifestyle.
From July 2020 to today, I have lost a total of 38 lbs with healthier eating habits, intermittent fasting, walking daily, and exercising 3-4 times a week. I have a long road ahead of me as I’d like to lose 40 more pounds, but I am learning to love where I am now!
What is your intermittent fasting schedule?
My intermittent fasting schedule varies. Over the course of one week, I alternate between 18:6 and 16:8 fasts.
Did you cut back on or cut out any foods?
I cut back on fried foods and high-carb foods. I eliminated sugary beverages.
What does your exercise routine consist of?
It consists of mostly walking 2-3 miles daily. I do moderate exercises like sit-ups, jumping jacks, and burpees at least three nights a week.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
Starting weight: 287 pounds
Current weight: 249 pounds
What is your height?
I’m 5’6″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I have not had weight loss surgery. (I have thought about it after seeing so many successful journeys in the weight loss community on social media.)
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I have learned thus far is to be patient and to be kind to myself. I have also learned that every day will not be the same, and that is okay.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
I would advise other women to give themselves grace, be kind to themselves, and to love on themselves. I’d also advise them to find a plan that works for them. Trial and error are key.
