Update June 2019: We want to give a huge shout to Alanté! “100 lbs lost between my Bachelors (2015) and my Masters (Today) 👩🏾🎓✊🏾”
Transformation of the Day: Alanté lost 100 pounds in a year and a half. Her wakeup call came when she broke a desk chair at work. She worked out, ate low carb meals and practiced intermittent fasting to get results. Check out her journey.
What was your motivation?
What motivated me to lose weight is when I broke a desk chair while at work. When I got on the scale, I was disappointed in what I saw. I made a promise to myself to change my life for the better, one day at a time.
What inspired you to keep going when times were tough or when you wanted to give up?
My parent’s health issues and being determined to not go the same route served as inspiration.
How did you change your eating habits?
I practice Intermittent Fasting and live a low carb lifestyle. As I transitioned to low carb, I immediately cut back on rice and breads. I love cauliflower rice… it’s just as good but with less guilt. I also eat nuts, like almond, walnuts and peanuts, to keep me full.
What is your Intermittent Fasting schedule?
I eat between 11am and 6 pm.
What did your workout routine look like?
I workout 4-5 days a week. I do 20 minutes cardio and 40 minutes weights/strength training.
What is your height?
I’m 5’6″.
When did you start your journey?
October 2016
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
It’s never a straight route to success, I’ve gained weight and cried about it, but I also got right back on track. I’m not where I want to be, but I’m much closer to my goal now than I ever was.
What advice do you have for other women who want to lose weight?
There will be setbacks, but be sure to always get back on track. I had to stop comparing myself to other people and began to focus on my own path.
