Adreinne lost 21 pounds. She cut out sweets and committed to a vegetarian lifestyle. During her journey, this Delta Sigma Theta soror learned the power of working out, developing a healthy relationship with food, being consistent. Now she’s a certified personal trainer.
What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
There are times I remember being body shamed and feeling down. I gained over 30 pounds, and rumors started that I was pregnant. I remember many individuals believing these rumors. I remember feeling alone and hurt. I knew I needed to change.
I’ve exercised my entire life, and then I stopped my last year of college. A few months after graduating, I started working out again. However, I failed when it came to consistency. Fortunately, I realized that if I wanted the body of my dreams and a healthy relationship with food, I needed to master consistency. I stayed consistent with it because it is my therapy.
How did you change your eating habits?
I am a vegetarian. I stopped eating late and didn’t eat a lot of sweets anymore.

I started my journey in the Summer of 2018, and because I was not consistent, it took me until 2021. Also, I gained weight during quarantine, so I had to re-lose a lot of the weight I’d already lost previously.
